What is a House Concert?
Just what it sounds like. We book a performer, set up chairs, sound and lights and put out a few snacks. It's an intimate, smoke-free evening of music.
There are hundreds of house concerts hosted nationwide. Some are small, holding as few as a couple of dozen people; others, like ours, are larger and more ambitious. For many musicians today, house concerts are their lifeblood, especially with the closings of so many small acoustic clubs. Read about the first decade of hosting North Shore Point House Concerts and a recent article about the series.
In 2017, we began a partnership with the Virginia Arts Festival and are now able to co-host shows in their venues. We also host shows at Old Dominion University's acoustically-perfect Goode Theatre during the summer and at Smartmouth Brewing's warehouse.
North Shore Point Acoustic became a non-profit in 2016. The shows are permitted under a Norfolk special events ordinance supporting organic cultural events. City permits are secured for each show.
Since 2001, we've built a community of people who enjoy getting together to listen to great music they can't hear elsewhere in the area. Thanks to everyone for your support.
